ABOUT NEW JOY

We believe Jesus is our Lord, Scripture is our authority, and ministry is the mission of every member.  Since Jesus is our Lord, (encouraging a life of worship is central to our teaching.)  We seek to honor God by yielding ourselves (to God in order) for Christ to accomplish His purposes in and through us.  We seek to accomplish God's mission through a process that holds us accountable to God and to each other.   We expect church members to grow spiritually and to be actively engaged in the ministry and mission of the church and we seek to respond to the needs of others with the love of Jesus Christ.

As a church, we seek to call people to faith, to equip people for ministry and to send people into mission and we believe God wants us to reach more people for Christ, and to provide Christian training for our members and for our church leaders.

HISTORY
A small group of families began to meet together in the fall of 1975 and chartered New Joy Church, then called Joy Evangelical Free Church, on January 27, 1976.  The name was selected based on Philippians 2:2, “then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose.”

Needing a place to worship the group contacted the congregation of St. John’s Episcopal Church and the intersection of Tucker Road and County Road 116.  They extended a warm welcome and allowed the use of their beautiful and historic church building on a shared basis.

By 1976 the congregation began searching for land in Hassan and after much prayer and after unsuccessfully searching for a couple years, God opened the doors for the congregation to purchase property adjacent to the building where they were meeting.   Our current building was completed in 1979 with the addition of the Family Life center in 1999.

God has great plans for His church.  We look forward with great anticipation for what He holds for the future of New Joy Church of Rogers.

“Be joyful always; pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”  I Thessalonians 5:16-17

SR. PASTOR RICH HUBERT
Born and raised in Southern Minnesota, Rich came to Christ at age seventeen.  Having married Karen, his childhood sweetheart, and in the midst of raising three children, they set off to climb the corporate ladder in the business world.  While endeavoring in that pursuit God called Rich into ministry at the age of thirty-three.  They packed up their family, moved to White Bear Lake, and enrolled in seminary.  From 1993 to 2004 Rich served as the Sr. Pastor of Paynesville Evangelical Free Church, in Paynesville, MN.  He and Karen moved to Albertville in May of 2005 to become the pastor of New Joy.  They have a deep commitment to Jesus Christ and a love of ministering to God’s people.
